Antony Sun Liwanag, 33, faces two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct for an incident that occurred in Minneapolis on July 2, 2026. The charges were filed in Hennepin County on July 24, 2026, after St. Louis Park police officers spoke with the adult female victim regarding the alleged assault.
According to the charging documents, the victim was in Minnesota to attend a co-worker’s wedding. On the evening of July 2, she participated in a pre-wedding party within the city. Liwanag, identified in the charges as her co-worker, asked her to accompany him to a different bar. She agreed to the invitation, and the two sat at a table near the back of the establishment. Liwanag retrieved drinks for them.
The victim told police that after consuming several drinks, she began feeling intoxicated and believed Liwanag had placed a substance in her beverage. The charges allege that Liwanag began kissing her without consent while she tried to push him away and told him no. He then reached under her dress and fondled her with his fingers while she was positioned between him and a wall.
Later, Liwanag ordered an Uber to the victim’s hotel in St. Louis Park. The victim stated she tried to tell him she did not want to go, but struggled to control her body. She collapsed outside the bar, according to the charges. Surveillance video from the hotel showed the pair arriving, with the victim appearing extremely impaired and unable to walk unassisted. The video depicts Liwanag carrying her to her room and dragging her to the elevator as she appeared limp.
Inside the hotel room, the charges state that Liwanag attempted another assault. The victim was able to thrash around and push herself away during this second incident. She flew back to San Francisco the following day without attending the wedding ceremony.
Authorities stated that Liwanag poses a danger to public safety. A warrant for his arrest has been requested.
The incident took place in the summer of 2026. Liwanag is a resident of San Francisco. The alleged assault occurred at a bar in Minneapolis.
