Milwaukee Brewers fans can celebrate a historic championship as early as Tuesday night. The team leads the Tampa Bay Rays 3-0 in the World Series and needs one more win to end the 44-year title drought. Game 4 is scheduled for 8 p.m. Eastern on Fox and Fox Deportes.
The Brewers won Game 3 on Monday night by a score of 10-1. Robert Gasser started the game and pitched a dominant performance. The offensive outburst sealed the series lead. The Rays managed only one run in the final three innings.
Neither team has ever won a World Series. The Brewers last appeared in the Finals in 1982. They swept the Los Angeles Dodgers in four games to win the National League pennant. The Rays reached the World Series for only the third time in franchise history. They beat the Cleveland Guardians in six games to win the American League pennant.
Tampa Bay secured the AL pennant after Junior Caminero hit a home run in Game 6 of the ALCS. The Rays lost to the Philadelphia Phillies in their previous World Series appearance in 2008. The Brewers defeated the San Diego Padres in the NL Division Series before sweeping Los Angeles in the NLCS.
The series started with close games. The Brewers won Game 1 by a score of 3-2. They followed that with a 5-4 victory in Game 2. The margin of victory widened in Game 3. The Rays have now lost three straight games to a team they have never beaten in the World Series.
If the series goes to five games, it will be played Wednesday at 8 p.m. Eastern. Game 6 is scheduled for Friday in Milwaukee. A decisive Game 7 would take place Saturday in Milwaukee. All remaining games are broadcast on Fox and Fox Deportes.
The Brewers face the Rays in Tampa Bay for Game 4. A win secures the franchise's first championship. A loss keeps the Rays alive for one final chance. The schedule allows for a decisive end to the series within the next two days.
